RIO's fly lines are
the result of a dynamic synergy between on-the-water experience and
experimentation, input from guides, outfitters and fly fishers, and
intense R & D at RIO. The result is a selection of fly lines that
are created to meet the stress and challenges of fly fishing in
freshwater, saltwater and warmwater. The Fly Fisherman is an
authorized Rio Pro Shop, entitling us to carry the full line of Rio
fly lines. Rio produces a wide variety of lines, making one
for almost any given fishing adventure. Check out the best
selling fly lines for Central Florida below; but, remember, that we
carry a full line of Rio products. Please call or e-mail to
check the availability of a specific Rio fly line.

Rio Saltwater Taper Fly Line
Ideal all purpose saltwater line for bonefish, striped bass
or snook and redfish in the back country. The quick loading
head and bullet taper with a tropical coating on a
multifilament core will turn over big, nasty flies in the
wind, yet is delicate enough for precise bonefish
presentations. For trips when you don’t know what to expect.
Available Line Weights: 7-12 |
 |
Rio Powerflex® Core Bonefish
Fly Line
The demands of bonefishing require a balance of long and
short casts with precise presentation. RIO's Bonefish Fly
Line does just that, starting with a medium length front
taper 6 ft - 8 ft (1.8 m - 2.4 m) to improve turnover
without sacrificing presentation, and a slightly longer back
taper to smooth out the casting loop. Total head length is
43 ft - 46 ft (13.1 m - 14 m). A hard coating combined with
a medium stiff single strand monofilament core results in
longer casts and a line that holds up to heat even in the
most extreme tropical conditions. New and Improved!
Available Line Weights: 6-9 |
 |
Rio Powerflex®Core Tarpon Fly
Line
The choice of Florida captains. With a short, forward taper
and a hard, smooth coating on a stiff single strand
monofilament core, RIO's tarpon fly lines can cast heavy
tarpon flies long distances with improved accuracy and great
turnover. Total head length varies from 36 ft - 40 ft (11 m
- 12.3 m). Available as a floating line, a floating line
with a 9 ft AquaLux® intermediate sinking tip or green tint
full intermediate with a 9.5 ft AquaLux tip (1.5 ips .7
cm/s). The sinking tip and full intermediate lines feature
the same taper as the Clouser line. The intermediate tip has
no loops or joints and is very useful, because unlike a full
intermediate fly line, the angler can roll cast once to
break the line loose, back cast, and get a second shot at
the tarpon. F/I line is the line of choice to get under the
floating grass to prevent weeds from fouling the fly. The
F/I line is also the best tarpon line in extreme wind. Hard
tropical coating on single strand monofilament core.
Available Line Weights: 10-13

Rio Tropical Clouser™ Fly
Line
Made with the same reversed compound taper as the Coldwater
Clouser fly line for turning over heavy, bulky flies into
the wind without effort. In addition, for longer casts, the
Tropical Clouser features the Powerflex® medium stiff single
strand monofilament core and a hard coating that will not
wilt even in extreme tropical heat. Available in floating
and LumaLux® full intermediate sinking (the line of choice
for night fishing or whenever floating weed is present to
prevent weeds from fouling the fly).
Available Line Weights: 7-12 |
 |
Rio Bass Fly Line
For 2004, a new taper designed for the special demands of
fly fishing for bass. This weight forward fly line features
an aggressive, short, bullet-shaped forward taper and a
medium length back taper. RIO's Bass fly line is designed
for fixed length (repeatable) short and long distance casts
and is the perfect taper for casting large, wind-resistant
bass flies. Excellent turnover results from the hard
self-lubricating coating on a nylon multifilament core that
doesn't wilt or sag in warm water fishing conditions.
Available Line Weights: 6-9 |
 |
Rio Clouser Fly Line for Big
Nasties (Non-Tropical)
Casting heavy or wind-resistant flies has always been a
challenge, even for good casters. RIO collaborated with Bob
Clouser, famed fly tier, guide, instructor and
conservationist, best known for inventing the Clouser
Minnow, one of the most versatile flies for both fresh and
saltwater. The Clouser™ line, with a unique reverse compound
taper and a bullet front taper, smoothly transfers energy to
prevent the characteristic "kick" with heavily weighted
flies. This taper effortlessly turns over heavy flies into
the wind for both short and long casts.
Available Line Weights: 4-12

Rio WindCutter® Spey Fly Line
The WindCutter is a spey line with a short, easy-loading
head between 48 ft - 60 ft. It is the best choice of line
for those learning to spey cast and for the angler who likes
to shoot line to get distance. For anglers who need to get
deep, the interchangeable tip WindCutter is the easiest spey
line for casting the heavier Big Boy tips from 200 grains
upward. The WindCutter is available as a floating line or an
interchangeable tip version and has a yellow head with a
green high-floating running line. For optimum casting keep
the color change just at the rod tip. The Interchangeable
Tips line comes with a body section, a floating and an
Intermediate Tip 2 Compensator and five 15 ft front tips in
a shooting head wallet for the utmost in versatility. The
front tips included are a floating tip, a clear intermediate
(1.5 ips, 3.7 cm/s) tip, a Type 3 (3 ips, 7.62 cm/s) DC tip,
a Type 6 (6 ips, 15.2 cm/s) DC tip and a Type 8 (8 ips, 20.3
cm/s) DC tip. The WWF5/6 does not come with a Tip 2, or a
Type 8 tip.Available
Line Weights: 5-13 |

RIO Grand® Fly Line
The RIO Grand is state-of-the-art in fly line technology
with distinctive benefits for the trout fly fisher. The tip
floats extremely high due to RIO's proprietary manufacturing
process, yet gives a smooth light delivery of even the
smallest dry fly. The weight forward taper features a
slightly heavier load to activate the faster modern fly rod,
yet the rear taper is long enough for roll casting. The line
is the product of RIO's SlickShooter™ Process and
incorporates a supple coldwater, super slick,
self-lubricating, dirt-resistant coating on a nylon
multifilament core. This is the perfect line for wet or dry
fly fishing. RIO has included a welded loop on the front end
of the fly line to facilitate changing leaders. In all our
tests we have found excellent turnover and presentation with
this loop. When landing fish, it slides through the rod
guides more easily than the customary nail knot.
Traditionalists can cut this loop off and not compromise the
taper.
